Dr Richard Laird has been recognised for his outstanding service to Hereford with the presentation of a Rugby Football Union VIP tie.

Dr Laird is the doctor in charge of medical services at Hereford and has been involved with the club's medical services throughout his 30 year association with the Wyeside club.

His voluntary service to rugby was acknowledged with a successful nomination for an RFU VIP tie which was presented to Dr Laird by Frank Dullehan, Hereford's secretary.

The RFU understand how valuable the contribution of volunteers is to the successful running of rugby clubs across the country. Some clubs have certain individual members whose efforts go beyond the call of duty and make a special difference to their club.

For recognition of exceptional achievements, volunteers can be nominated for a RFU VIP tie or scarf, which have been exclusively designed for this recognition scheme.
